The Sun and the Sea

By: Colleen Lennehan

Beach roses, a setting sun, and a sandy seating area make up the perfect breezy picnic spot!

We wanted to enhance a typical picnic scene with seaside elements and organic décor!

Two weathered wooden pallets, rested on a striped beach blanket, created an earthy tabletop for this styled shoot.

Wild roses and beach flowers were mixed with garden grown peonies in multiple glass bottles and vases, while a piece of coral acted as a beachy candle holder.

By mixing antique silverware (from the Brimfield Antique Fair), crystal glasses, and crisp white plates, we dipped into an elegant and nautical look.

Meigs Point at Hammonasset Beach in Clinton, CT was the location for this golden hour shoot. I spotted this grassy nook that made for the perfect picnic location, with views of the sea and wildflower surroundings.

This shoot was styled and designed by my fabulous mom, Lisa Lennehan, and it may be my favorite so far. My sisters Alyssa, Shanna, and Caitlyn also helped create this shoot, as well as model for a few shots!

We loved using one of our giant conch shells to create this mermaid silhouette!

There’s nothing more that I love than the sea, the sun, and sandy shoots!

Among the many reasons why couples consider Vermont as their wedding destination is the states stunning scenery.
A variety of wedding venues in Vermont offer the couple and guests breathtaking views of the fall foliage, and massive mountains.
One venue that has everything checked off on the “perfect wedding venue” list is the Mountain Top Inn and Resort.
The resort is conveniently located in Chittenden, VT, which is centralized around many major cities.
Below is a slideshow of various photographs taken at the resort.

The venue sits on 350 acres of land with views of a mountain, lake and Green Mountain National Forest.
The resort has a full events management staff who are willing and capable of planning the wedding as well as the rehearsal dinner.
They are able to accommodate parties of up to 250 guests, and host both indoor and outdoor weddings on their three ceremony sites; The Barn, The Meadow and Outdoor Terrace, and The Beach Pavilion.
Luisa and Mark expressed their satisfaction of Mountain Top Inn and Resort after their wedding stating, “Mountain Top Inn is truly a unique and beautiful property that is not only quiet and serene, but renewing.”

Autumn Color Schemes

Fall weddings do not have to solely circle the typical colors found during the season.
According to The Perfect Palette the top fall wedding color for 2014 is cranberry, among sage, pumpkin, camel, and bronze.
Many creative brides, grooms, and wedding planners are finding new color mixtures to go against the typical red, orange, and yellow seasonal shades.

Shake It Off

Throwing an engagement party at someone’s house, in this case my families, is a bit stressful.
You need about a million hands to help, 10 extra hours than you have, and the ability to not have a meltdown five minutes before it starts.
My beautiful mother has always had the dream of opening her own wedding business.
We would take care of the catering, decorations, photography, venue, you name it, we got it covered.
So my sisters engagement party was the first time for our mom to really have a chance with all that.

And it was fabulous.
The weather was breezy and windy, and then rainy, dreary, and chilly-however when you start questioning the bad karma brought upon you when it starts pouring on your weeks worth of engagement party preparation, just breath, motion your guests towards the tents, and laugh while you pour yourself a glass of wine.
–It worked for us!–

My mother thought of everything, I know I’m bias but a wedding magazine easily could (and SHOULD) have photographed and documented the party.
Between the 7 different types of homemade soups, signature cocktails, bonfire pits, hay stack seating, and crisp autumn leaves blowing around in the cool air, it was picture perfect.
