Ashley’s Bridal Shower | Pond House Cafe

By: Colleen Lennehan

Check out a few of my favorite shots from Ashley’s garden themed bridal shower! The Pond House Cafe was the perfect venue to celebrate Ashley and her fiancé’s love!

Cozy Autumn Engagement

Between the golden hour sunbursts and the sweetness of an apple orchard, this engagement shoot is one of my favorites by far!

Marissa and Bobby smiled and danced the evening away, making these photos completely natural and full of love.

We wandered around Roger’s Orchard and a local reservoir, finding plenty of fall backdrops. My mom Lisa and I designed a cozy picnic for the pair, complete with apple cider filled antique goblets, earthy pumpkins, gold accents, and plush pillows. She also included a fall foraged arrangement full of hydrangea and wild greens.

I had such an effortless time shooting the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Sirois and her antique engagement ring. I hope you enjoy seeing their genuine love!

Engagement Ring Rundown

Color, clarity, cut, carat.
For almost anyone with a slight understanding of weddings and engagements, the four C’s are stored away in their vocabulary.
Aside from the four most well known C words in the wedding language, shape is another aspect of engagement ring consideration.

As seen above there are ten standard diamond shapes.
According to Diamond Duchess’ Principal Designer, Danielle Salisbury, the most popular trend of 2014 is a round diamond, with a cushion shaped halo.
However, many brides are opting for more unique rings.
As of June 2005, the website Etsy has opened a new world of engagement rings. Etsy is geared around vintage and handmade products that range from monogrammed key chains, to leather backpacks, to engagement rings.
Brides can now get one of a kind engagement rings and support small business owners.
Here is a glimpse of a few eye catching rings from the website.

Photography by Daniel Gaedeke

Daniel Gaedeke is a Connecticut photographer who has specialized in wedding and engagement photography for the past three years.
“The best part of a wedding to me is being able to capture all the raw emotion that comes with the day,” Gaedeke said.

As a young and fairly new wedding photographer Gaedeke has relied on word of mouth to spread his business. So far this year he has shot 5 weddings total, and already has bookings for 2015, as well as 2016.
Each wedding allows an opportunity for great joy, and Gaedeke notes that “all the smiles, tears, love, and happiness make me grateful to be there capturing it all.”
But of course wedding days have a bit of disorder tagging along.
To deal with this Gaedeke says, “No matter what you have for a plan, you better have a back up, and a back up for that.”
To not be thrown by the chaos and excitement of the day, Gaedeke says he try’s to “stay two steps ahead of it all,” to make sure he can get the best shots.

Chelsea and Kevin Dingus, of Berlin, CT hired Gaedeke to shoot their engagement photos last fall and were nothing but pleased with his work.

“He was creative, and details were important to him,” Chelsea Dingus said of Gaedeke’s photography, “he was also good with picking out our poses so that we didn’t look too awkward.”
She also noted that Gaedeke took a variety of shots in different areas so the couple had plenty to choose from.
Gaedeke works out of central CT and will travel Connecticut for shoots at the convenience of the couple, but is willing to travel a bit further than the ends of CT.
“I would really enjoy traveling and doing a destination wedding at some point,” Gaedeke says.
